Welcome to 2018-2019 School Year!
I'd like to take a moment to talk about literacy and how to best help your children improve on their reading.
Your children will soon be taking some very important literacy testing. Please encourage them to do their very best at school and that testing is a crucial part of being successful!
The most important thing you can do to help your child succeed is to read with your child at least 30 minutes every day.
1. Make sure the book is not too hard (or too easy!) for your child. Use the five finger rule - have your child read a page - if they make no mistakes at all, it may be too easy. If they make more than 5 errors on a single page, it is too hard.
2. Listen to your child while they read. Make sure that they are reading the words on the page! Your kids are excellent storytellers and can make up some amazing narratives!
3. Ask questions - make sure your child understands what has happened in the story as well as being able to tell you why a character made a certain choice, or how they would have changed the ending if they were the author.
So join us in our partnership! We look forward to working with you and your child to have a fulfilling and enriching experience this year!

My class is so excited to have Makerspace class!! Makerspace is a hands-on learning space where children get to work collaboratively to solve puzzles, be creative, and express themselves!! Our friends here have just solved several puzzles in order to "break out"! It takes lots of teamwork and thinking "out of the box"!!!! Ha ha!!

Reading daily is the key to your child's success. Have your child read aloud so you can ask questions and make sure what they're reading makes sense. |
